Voice Agents

How Voice Agents work in Stated: a spoken conversation inside a publication that collects answers you can read as responses.

· 2 min read

A Voice Agent turns a Stated Page or Experience into a spoken conversation. A visitor opens the publication, identifies themselves when required, grants microphone permission and talks with the agent. The transcript and captured answers are saved alongside the publication's other responses.

When to use Voice Agents

Use a Voice Agent when a typed form would make the response less natural or less complete:

For simple binary decisions, a poll or form is usually quicker. Voice is best when the detail in the answer matters.

Configure a Voice Agent

In a Page or Experience, add a Voice Agent and configure its name, opening message, purpose, instructions, ordered questions, language, voice and maximum duration.

The agent receives useful publication context, including the title, summary and supported content blocks. Keep questions short and specific. Tell the agent what it should clarify, what it should avoid inventing, and when it should move to the next question.

What visitors experience

A visitor sees a clear call to start the conversation. Stated requests microphone access only when the visitor begins. If registration is enabled, the visitor is asked for their name and email before the conversation so the response can be attributed correctly.

The visitor can end the conversation at any time. Stated shows clear feedback when a microphone is unavailable or permission was denied.

Results and transcripts

Each completed conversation is saved once. Owners can read the transcript, listen where audio is available, see a summary and export responses. Voice responses also appear in the publication's Results and Analytics area with forms, polls, quizzes and other interactions.

Limits and availability

Voice Agents use the ElevenLabs integration and are subject to the voice allowance on the account plan. Availability and remaining minutes are shown before a conversation starts. The configured duration and visitor limits protect the publication from unexpected use.

See ElevenLabs for the provider integration, and Responses and Analytics for interpreting results.
